What services do you offer?
We’re here to help with septic tank installation, repairs, maintenance, soakaway installation, stormwater systems, groundworks and building services for homes. With more than 300 septic tank and wastewater treatment system projects under our belts, you can trust that we know what we’re doing.
What areas do you serve?
We serve customers across the North West of England, offering septic, soakaway, stormwater, and groundworks services. If you’re local, we’re here to help.
What experience does your team have?
With over 25 years of hands-on experience, we really know our stuff. Plus, all our electrical work is carried out by our trusted certified partner to ensure everything is compliant and safe.
Are you insured?
Yes, we’re insured to £2m to a depth of 3 metres – plenty of depth to install a tank and treatment system – and to a height of five metres in case of overhead cables. We’re also insured just in case we hit an underground cable, although it’s not happened yet.
What are binding rules and how do they affect my property sale?
Binding rules are government regulations that apply to septic tanks and small sewage systems to ensure they don’t harm the environment. They affect homes with a septic tank that are not on mains drainage.
These rules ensure your septic system meets specific environmental standards. When selling your property, you’ll need to provide proof that your septic system complies with the binding rules. If it doesn’t, you may need to upgrade or replace parts of your system before the sale can go through.
We can carry out a septic system inspection and assess your sewage system and make any changes needed to ensure everything is compliant. To sell your house, your septic tank and water treatment system must meet your local authority’s standards. An inspector from your local authority will check completed works to ensure they pass and will issue a certificate which you’ll need to include as part of your seller’s pack.
Binding rules have changed – is my tank still legal?
Many homes built in the 1990s or earlier are rarely compliant with binding rules, so the septic systems often need work to meet the new regulations. Sometimes a repair or upgrade is enough, but often a new septic tank and wastewater treatment system is needed to secure the local authority certificate to sell your house.
How can I tell if my septic tank needs repairs or maintenance?
If you’re noticing slow drainage, unpleasant smells, or water pooling near your septic tank, it’s probably time to give us a call. We’ll come out, complete a septic system inspection and let you know the best way to get everything moving again.
How much will it cost to install a septic tank?
Costs can vary depending on what you need. We always provide a clear and fair estimate after a site visit. No surprises – just honest advice and pricing. And, wherever possible, we’ll carry out a repair, saving you money.
What happens during a septic tank site visit?
We’ll inspect your septic system, test the soil and work out the best solution. Then we’ll provide you with clear, straightforward recommendations and ballpark costs so you can decide whether you want to go ahead.
Can I install a septic tank myself?
While it’s possible, we recommend letting experienced professionals handle the job to avoid costly mistakes and ensure everything meets the necessary regulations. We’ve installed more than 350 septic tanks and treatment systems, so we’re here to make it easy for you. Of course, if you’re confident about installing your own septic tank, but you need the groundwork to be completed, we can help.
Do you install septic tanks for new builds?
Yes, we do. If you’ve got a circle or square with the word ‘septic tank’ or ‘treatment plant’ on your architectural plans, you need someone you can trust to install it. That’s where we step in. With more than 25 years of septic tank installation experience, you’re in safe hands.
How disruptive is a septic tank installation?
Tank installation isn’t too disruptive as nearly all the work takes place outside. The only thing we might need to enter your home for is to carry out wiring and complete electric checks. We always restore the garden as close to its original state as possible. If the weather’s kind to us, we can be in and out within a week.
Can you upgrade my septic system to meet new regulations?
Absolutely! We’ll assess your system and explain the upgrades we recommend to ensure everything works effectively and will be compliant with the latest rules.
How often should I get my septic tank serviced?
We recommend emptying and servicing your septic tank every year. Some tank manufacturers say you can leave servicing longer than this, but we find tanks can quickly deteriorate if not serviced annually. Regular septic tank maintenance can save you from bigger problems down the road, so it’s worth investing a little bit of money to lower the risk of a much bigger payout in future.
What should I do if my septic tank or soakaway fails?
First of all, don’t panic – we’ve got it covered. We’ll pop round to diagnose the issue, give you an estimated quote and get your system back in working order in no time.
Can you replace a T-pipe?
T-pipes are a vital part of your septic system. When they move or stop functioning properly, it stops the clean water from rising to the top where it can be treated and dispersed. Often, T-pipe problems can be repaired, saving you a lot of money and quickly getting your system back up and running again.
What kind of groundworks services do you provide?
We handle all sorts of groundworks, from digging holes for septic tanks to clearing ditches and preparing land for building projects. If it involves digging, call us.
Why is ground preparation important for septic tank installation?
Proper digging and preparation are vital to ensuring your septic system is installed at the right depth so it meets regulations and works efficiently. Our team of local groundworks experts will make sure your system is installed the right way, from the start.
What can cause the drains that connect to my septic tank to become blocked?
Blocked drains are usually caused by damage to one of the pipes or a buildup of debris like leaves or waste clogging the pipes or tree roots growing into the pipes. Over time, these obstructions can restrict water flow and cause drainage issues. Regular maintenance can help prevent these problems.
How can you fix my blocked drains?
We locate the blockage then use methods like drain rods and high-pressure water jets to clear your drains. If your pipes are damaged, we can also provide drainage groundworks to dig down to the pipes, explore the issue and provide a repair or replacement. So your drainage system works efficiently again.
Can blocked drains affect my septic tank or soakaway system?
Yes, blocked drains can impact your septic tank or soakaway. If wastewater can’t flow properly, it may lead to water and waste becoming backed up which can damage your septic system. Clearing the blockage and checking your septic system to ensure it hasn’t been damaged is crucial to prevent further issues.
What is a soakaway, and why do I need one?
A soakaway helps wastewater filter naturally back into the ground, keeping your garden dry and your system working properly. It’s a key part of a healthy septic system and it’s vital that it works properly to protect your local environment and make sure your garden remains clean and usable.
How do I know if my soakaway needs repairs or replacement?
If you’ve noticed water pooling or soggy patches in your garden, or your drainage seems slow, it’s a sign your soakaway needs attention. You might also have a complaint from a neighbour or noticed water flowing to areas it shouldn’t. We’ll come and take a look at your current soakaway to understand the problem and suggest the best way forward.
Do I really need a stormwater system for my property?
If you’ve had work done, like a new driveway, parking or extension, you may need a stormwater system to manage the extra runoff. We’ll visit your property, assess your situation and advise whether it’s necessary.
Do you install stormwater systems for new developments?
Yes, we do, but typically only for small developments of up to six or so houses. We’re also experienced in installing Hydro-Brake® systems to manage stormwater to ensure conversions, parking and driveway projects don’t cause local flooding.
What types of construction services do you offer?
We provide a wide range of construction services, including residential builds, renovations, extensions and general building maintenance.
Are you fully insured?
Yes, we’re fully insured to carry out all construction projects. You can take a look at our insurance documentation – you just need to ask.
How long will my project take to complete?
Project timelines vary based on the scope and complexity of the job. After our initial conversation, we’ll provide you with an estimated timeline for your project.
Can I make changes to the project once construction has started?
We understand that plans can evolve. That’s why we always accommodate changes where possible – you just need to be aware that changes may affect the timeline and cost.
